Elizabeth Rae, a Glaswegian by birth, is an adopted daughter of Bute having lived on this beautiful island since 1962

Elizabeth's talent is a gift, being self taught and working mainly in oils. Her appreciation of colour, texture and the moods of nature portray a unique interpretation.

Her work over the past years graces the rooms of many Bute locals and visitors to the island. She has exported paintings to all corners of the globe, including the largest sports emporium in Germany where a number of her paintings can be viewed.
Exiles from Bute in such places as Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia have all taken and everlasting memory of their home.

Elizabeth can often be seen in the Bute countryside armed with sketch pad and camera, scanning the lochs, fields and hills for those fleeting moments of drama in the landscape which pass so quickly but will later serve as inspiration for a beautiful painting.
Elizabeth will take on commissions, her most prestigious being a landscape of the Kyles of Bute for Lord and Lady Attenborough, who have a house on Bute.

If you intend to visit Bute and are looking for accommodation, Liz has a self-catering flat for holiday lets. Details are available HERE
